Joining legs onto body in the round

Hi! I’m currently working on the Willum’s overalls by PetiteKnit and I’m currently stuck on how to join the two legs to begin the body in the round on a circular needle. Attached is a screenshot of the pattern where I’m currently at as well as picture of what I’ve done so far. I’ve put the two legs onto a 16 inch circular needle (smaller length cable at the recommendation of my local yarn store employees, even though it recommends a longer needle for magic loop), but the pattern does not indicate 1) where the beginning and the end of the round are and 2) when to cast on the 6 st in front and back for the crotch.

I’ve put the st markers on the side as indicated, but not sure if that’s where beginning/end of round is supposed to be? Does it even matter for this pattern?

I’ve seen other posts here for similar baby overall patterns by the same person where the construction with the crotch is the same, but just different enough where I feel I need to outsource help  from those posts, I’m pretty certain I can figure out how to CO for the crotch, but I’m just not sure when. Does it need to happen before I transfer over to the circular needle and before I begin knitting? Or is it done as I’m knitting the first round?

I know I’m not dumb and have been knitting for a few years, but sometimes these patterns make me feel like an idiot haha. I can struggle with things for a while and figure them out, but this is my first attempt at legs and joining them in the round, so I appreciate any help or guidance from all your collective experience!

I would make the back where my yarn is hanging, cast on 3sts, place a Center Back/Start End marker, cast on 3sts, work across one leg and repeat cast on 3sts, place a Center Front marker, cast on 3sts, work across second leg to Center Back/Start End marker.

Okay great this is helpful! After you cast on the first 6 st, would you just slip the one leg to the other needle before casting on the next 6 st in the front, or would you actually work them in stockinette?

Sorry I mis-read your question, I have edited my reply accordingly.
You need to knit all the leg stitches until you get to the front where you will cast on the next 6 stitches then you need to knit all the leg stitches until you get back to where you started. I looked at the pattern it is adorable, so take it slow I know it sounds confusing but it does work.
