Joining an i-cord in the round?

This bit of the pattern I’m working on is driving me nuts:

I get my I-cord done, increase to 6st, but can’t figure out how to join it in the round so that the stockinette stays on the outside. I’m pretty useless at knitting in the round, but the way I’ve always done it is so that the right side is on the “inside” of the tube - which doesn’t work for this, because with the I-cord, the right side is always on the outside, so it seems like no matter which way I knit it, the wrong side ends up on the outside. I’m just… extremely confused, so any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Welcome, you will find so much help on this site! I’ll try to help,
I think I would kfb on one needle, kfb on second needle, and kfb on third needle, it might help to keep the stitches knit side out. I do hope that helps!

Welcome!
Maybe this video will help too.

I know that you understand the concept of inside out, it’s more that the video might help you continue with knit sts to the outside, given the I-cord beginning.
