Iza in knittingland

Whoa, i know this is pretty old, but i just noticed this one. i cant be soo late sometimes :wall: . anyway, wow i didnt know that. iwas just joking :teehee: . all is know is that je parle franglais much better than i speak french  :teehee: .

P.S. Sorry, this computer doesn’t have accent marks on it!

i always use these: http://french.about.com/library/bl-accents.htm

Salut Joy! :waving: Hey that’s a nice reference for french accents. I think I’ll keep it around!

I’m participating in the yarn swap and it’s already so much fun! I received an email from my secret pal, and I emailed my pal as well. :cheering: I don’t have much time however, I really hope my package will be good enough for my knitter friend… I would feel very sad if she was disapointed in any way. I’ll do my best!

I had my first job interview yesterday! And it went pretty well. There were no big technical questions or anything, it was really more of a discussion in how I would fit their needs and what I want from a job. It really was a good experience and I felt they really respected me. I don’t know if I really want to work there however, the job does look interesting but there seems to be a LOT of pressure. I don’t know if I’m ready for this yet… but anyways, they said they would contact me in 2 weeks. We’ll see! :cheering:

I got the yarn I will send to my secret pal! :cheering: :cheering: I hope she will be happy. I bought yarn I would be happy with, since my yarnee didn’t have any special requests or preferred colours. I got 2 different kinds of yarn, 3 skeins for one, and one big hank for the other. It’s a bit over the budget, but I don’t think my yarnee will mind. :teehee:

Now I have to think of little goodies to put with it! I have a lot to do these days however, so I won’t be able to do anything really special. In any case, the important thing is to get YARN, and that is done! Hopefully I will be able to send it to her next week. :happydance:

Ohhh… my :passedout: I am so tired it’s not even funny. I finally submitted the final version of my thesis today. It is D-O-N-E. Now my advisor wants me to write journal papers. ARRGH I would so like this whole thing to be over with… I can’t look at this thesis anymore.

ANYWAYS. The good thing is that I RECEIVED MY PACKAGE FROM MY SECRET PAL!!! :muah: :cheering: :happydance:  And I TOTALLY love it. I LOVE the look of the recycled silk yarn. I’ve been wanting to try it out but never got around to. I’m thinking I could make a scarf knitted diagonally, a bit like the one featured here: http://www.recycledsilk.com/scarves.html

And I GOT STITCH MARKERS!!! :cheering: I didn’t have any, believe it or not  I am using scrap yarn most of the time. But ohhh these look so much better don’t they? :teehee: I think I really want to learn how to make them.

So now i have a very long list of projects to do. :teehee: I definitely want to try this recycled silk fairly soon. I am knitting Clapotis now (it will take forever…), I have eyelash yarn I want to use in a scarf (I don’t really like it though), I have 2 pairs of socks I want to make… not to mention a bag I started last year that I never finished. Oh yes, and that tank top that has to be seamed. And… other things… maybe. Oy. :passedout:

Well now that my thesis is finally finished, I have time to KNIT! :happydance: I’m not done with Clapotis yet, but it’s coming along. I am using US 7 needles (and doubling Shimmer), I did the same amount of increase rows as required by the pattern, but will have to do a lot more straight rows. I will basically knit until I run out of yarn, to make sure it’s long enough. I can’t wait to be done! :cheering:

My sweet boyfriend helped me yesterday to wind into a ball my last hank of Shimmer. He was so cute holding the yarn, while watching hockey… Imagine a guy with tattoos, very short hair (military style) with red/pink/yellow yarn in his hands… I couldn’t help thinking it was hilarious. :teehee:

:cheering: Clapotis is DONE! well I still have to weave in the ends. I HATE doing that :teehee:

I used 3 hanks of KP Shimmer, double stranded, on US7 (4.5mm) needles. I did the same amount of increase rows as the pattern, and 3 more sets of straight rows. The result is a scarf a bit narrower than the pattern, but with the same length. For me it’s perfect because I’m very small, so I can still use it as a wrap.

The last few days were very frustrating though. I ran out of yarn TWICE so I had some frogging to do. It wasn’t so bad however, I had lifelines ALL over the place so it wasn’t a problem. :teehee:

I’m very happy with it. I will definitely wear it!

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh that is stunning! :cheering:

OMG! That looks beautiful!!! :notworthy: xxx

:thud:

I am not typically a pink person, but that looks great!

I love the colors! It looks great!

Thanks everyone! :muah: I didn’t wove in the ends yet though  I didn’t… err… “have time”. :teehee:

I don’t really feel like knitting these days, I don’t exactly know why. But I know it will come back… it always does! :teehee:

Anybody saw the famous and controversial exhibit “Body Worlds”? My boyfriend and I have tickets to go see it on Wednesday morning. I would be very interested in knowing what people thought of it!

Mmmm…nutella…

 oh I’m hungry now… my boyfriend is allergic to nuts so the jar is all mine… MINE!!! :rofling:

I loooove Nutella! Haven’t had it in ages.

Nutella on baked banana, YUMMY!..oh heck, who am I kidding? I usually just stick the banana in the jar.
(My husband has banned me from using our stove too much)

it is so pretty!!:yay::woohoo::blooby:

Oh dear. Got my convocation dress for tomorrow… I can not believe I will wear this in front of hundreds of people. A red and green gown (yes, red and green) with a ridiculous black hat (not the usual ones… but a kind of medieval-style hat. They call it a Tudor bonnet I think). Of course, only the Ph.Ds and profs have to wear these, undergrads and master’s are in a black gown, with the typical hat. My theory is that it’s for public humiliation purposes. If you’re crazy enough to do a Ph.D., you should be willing to look like a clown on your convocation. Oh well… I guess the best is to laugh about it, one day and it will be over!

I think the gowns profs and PhD’s wear are kinda neat. I like that all the colors and stripes and stuff mean things. It’s like heraldry. :teehee:

Congrats again!

The Tudor-style are WAAAAY cooler than the undergrad boards! Red and green isn’t that bad. A friend of mine has a doctorate in music, and their color is PINK!:ick: (Sorry, Hild!)

DH is ceramic engineering, his looks like a bruise. Mine for political science was white/purple/gold. My gold honors cord was boring, but I had a flashy medallion for the national poli sci honors society.

Congratulations!!!:cheering:
