ISO butterfly pattern

Hi everyone!
I’m looking for a pattern/instructions to make a butterfly. All the links my search has turned up so far are for butterfly stitches or something. I want to make an actual butterfly and then attach it to a baby’s hat or blanket, the way I would attach a flower.
If you know how to do this or if you’ve seen a pattern for it, please let me know!
Thanks!
Becca

Maybe you can adapt one of the flower patterns from Knitting Pattern Central?

I don’t have a pattern, but you could do icord for the center part, then pick up stitches for each of the wings.

If you’re not intimidated by crochet, butterfly appliques are really easy to find patterns for, and most are pretty easy to make. Searching for butterfly at crochet pattern Central returned quite a few results.

Here is a really simple on to do – just dc’s and ch stitches for the most part. I don’t know how easy it would be to convert to knitting, but it’s essentially an octagon with rounded corners that you fold in half.

I think there are some attached to a scarf in one of the 'STICH ‘N BITCH’ books, but I don’t have access to them now to tell you which one.

Thanks everyone!
I do have the S&B books so I’ll have to check there.
I am totally intimidated by crochet, but I found a ton of butterfly patterns so I thought I’d give it a go… not such a great idea!

Just wanted to thank debb again… I found the butterfly pattern in SnB and made 2 for my blanket… now if I could just finish the blanket (I am almost halfway done and the baby shower is on Saturday!! Yikes!)

Just in case u want to crochet one…here have alot of butterflies…
