ISO - Baby Sock Pattern

I’m in search of a baby sock pattern that actually stays on.
Does anyone know if one exists?

I made this one and it took about 58 seconds for the first one to come off. The second was right behind. :pout:

Just socks or can they be booties? Generally you need to make the ribbing tighter and if you make it longer and have it fold over it works better.

The DGD is just six months now, It could be booties… they would have to be cool, like the converse though. :slight_smile:

I thought about making the ribbing on smaller needles. I don’t want to cut off her circulation… However, I’m about ready to start holding socks on with rubber bands! :wink:

These both stayed on my son’s feet great. I was very impressed especially with how much he liked to kick and squirm in his carseat. I ended up knitting enough ribbing on all my baby sock patterns to cuff his socks (that seemed to hold them on better) and I used yarn like Cascade Fixation (but I hear Heirloom Breeze is even better).
I also knit him ankle socks with a little extra ribbing (just over 1/4 inch). I could flip them inside out and lay a piece of ribbon-style elastic (I sewed the ends together and made it into a little elastic band) around the ribbing. I took the ribbing folded it over the elastic and sewed it in place. That way there was a little elastic hidden in the “cuff” to hold the sock up. They looked adorable and no one could tell that I had cheated with the elastic band.

If you just use a smaller needle size or two for the ribbing it should help a lot w/o them getting too tight.

When my girls were babies I had one type of bootie that was my favorite. It had a ribbed top and sock like bottom. They very rarely kicked off. I think they still make them, but so far I can’t find them.
