I am very confused by these baby booties I’m making.
I am proud of myself for getting this far - I had to frog these like, 3 times to get this far. The little lacy part is really cute.
But now I am confused. I knitted the part that goes around the ankle, then they had me bind off stitches on either side and keep knitting the middle (the instep I guess).
So, I did that and now the pattern tells me (if I understand it) that I am supposed to pick up ALL of these stitches where I bound off, and along the side of the instep piece I just knit!!
I did that on one side, but I don’t want to go any further because if I pick up all of those same stitches on the other side, won’t it stretch the heck out of the piece??? Is that really what I’m supposed to do?
I’m not that great at picking up stitches to begin with… I’m afraid I’m going to ruin this piece by trying to stretch the knitting over and pick up all of those stitches.
I’ve attached a picture where you can see that I’ve picked up all of the stitches as instructed on one side (9 bound off edge stitches, then 8 stitches from along the instep) but haven’t done the other side yet.
Can someone help me? Is this how bootie patterns are supposed to go?
