Is this patern correct?

Hi Everyone,
I am new to knitting, I would like to make this blanket.
I know how to make the stitches in the pattern, but I do not see a square.
It look like it would end up like this: But it should be a square…
x
xx
xxx
xxxx
xxxxx
xxxxxx
yyyyy
yyyy
yyy
yy
y
But it should be a square…
Am I reading the pattern wrong? If so what do they mean?
Thanks very much!!
Maro

Drive by link to pattern. I don’t do well looking at patterns and figuring out so I’ll leave it to someone else. It’s pretty!

Welcome to KnittingHelp!
The pattern is correct. If you increase at the beginning of every row, you’ll be increasing on each side of the triangle. The same will be true of the decreases.
If you look at the diagram under the Key for Square 1, you’ll be knitting from the lower left corner in color B, increasing at the beg. of each row, then switching to color C and decreasing at the beg. of each row.
Try it out.
