Is there a wrong way to cast off?

i am making a baby bib & i stitched 8 stitches for the handle & then i continued to cast off the rest of the stitches…now i am at the last one & feel i have ran into a dead end! is there a way to tie off the end and continue to stitch the handle? thanks!

You don’t CO at the end of a row. Finish the row, turn, and CO at the beg of the next row. You’ll have your working yarn to continue.
