I have just started a cabled hat earflap pattern called 18 Seconds before Sunrise. http://www.plasticsoul.org/18seconds.html It’s v. cute. The only problem is i’m not sure if there is an error in the pattern or i’m just not reading it correctly. This is my first cabled pattern.
On row 8 it says (slip next 4 stitches to cable needle or DPN, hold to front, k4, k st from cn, p4, k8, p4)* which I did, but this seems to make 3 cables and I’m not sure but it looks like the hat pictured has more. Should it say (slip next 4 stitches to cable needle or DPN, hold to front, k4, k st from cn, p4, slip next 4 stiches to cn, hold to front, k4, p4)* ? Or are the original directions correct? I thought i followed them correctly but only got 3 cables. sigh.
So the pattern is right? it just looked so different from the picture… i’ve just frogged the whole thing thinking it was wrong. In the photo http://www.plasticsoul.org/images/knitting/18sec2.jpg there looks to bbe 5-6 cables, in mine however, there were three total. should i start again and cable every knit section - leaving the purl… when i followed the pattern, it looked like purl, cable, purl, knit, purl, cable, purl, knit, purl. (if that makes sense).
