Is my yarn too thick for a baby blanket?

Hello everyone,

I’m a new knitter and I’m doing my first project; a baby blanket! I’ve already gotten about 1/3 of it done but now I’m thinking that it seems really heavy for a baby blanket. I’m using Lion Brand Hometown USA Acrylic yarn. Will this be too heavy when it’s all done?

I wouldn’t worry about it too much. Baby blankets can be made in all kinds of weights/thicknesses! Thick ones are especially nice for the fall or winter. That new baby will be nice and snuggly warm wrapped up in your thoughtful gift!!!

I agree. As long as you’re using a large enough needle size to either get gauge or to make a knit fabric that you like. There are certainly many baby blanket patterns made with similar super bulky yarns.
