So I started to learn to knit lastnight and I think I casted on too tight, cause now i can’t get to the second purl stitch cause it’s like not fitting >.<
Should i start all over?

Casting on too tight is common for new knitters. Try not to pull the yarn too tightly. You can also try casting on to a larger needle or two smaller needles held together.
Which cast on are you using? Some are better than others for learning to knit especially. If you used the backward loop I suggest you use another like the knitted on cast on. Backward loop is really only good for a short number of stitches and is often used when you need a cast on in the middle of your work.
I wish i had a bigger needle xD

im unsure which way it that is, but that’s how I did it.
So would you recommend me to cut the yarn or just unravel it all?

Yeah, pull the cast on off the needles and start over. We all do that even when we are more advanced when things don’t work out.
If you only have the two needles just cast on, but don’t pull the yarn too tight. Don’t worry about the knitting being pretty or perfect at this point. All that’s important is that you learn the stitches and practice. If it looks bad just keep going. You’ll be surprised how much better it starts looking soon.

You can just take the sts out and reuse the yarn. The cast on shown in the video is called the knitted cast on, just don’t pull on the yarn tight when you make the new st and put it on the needle. It’s better for it to be a little loose than too tight.
I just watched the video. That is a knitted cast on and it’s a good one do do. When she takes the needle out and pulls the stitch tight…don’t do that or at least don’t do it tightly. It needs to be loose so you can get the needle in to knit the next row.
Now when you are knitting the row don’t pull tight either. Remember it’s okay if it feels a little loose.

im re-doing it and it’s coming along a LOT neater than before and a lot easer to do
one last question though, when I was doing it before the yard kinda became unraveled like, the string was kinda getting thick and fluffy, im thinking its because i was doing it too hard. and it was hard to pull through.
or maybe it’s the yarn im using i dont know, ha.
That’s why im asking if you might know why it was unraveling.
the yarn I have is
"red heart" it says “worsted medium”
It may have started to fluff up because you were pulling tight, but it’ll be fine once it’s knit up more loosely. The yarn is a very common one that’s used by many knitters.

I got 23 done so far and i don’t really know what’s a good number >.<
That may be a little small, try 30, that should make a scarf about 6" wide.
Im starting it on 35 cause that’s what I had when you replied. haha

Hello everyone:
as you know I am very new to kniting and got my started kit I think a week or 2 ago and said i was have trouble with casting on using the long tail, well i think i got just did it twice but when i went to take the yarn off to do it again, i had trouble getting the yarn off and by the way i just got it tonight, this afternoon i had went out to get a light color and bigger needle a 10.5 I had been using a size 8 Boyle, so i got the cast on after using the 10.5 and lighter color yarn.

Yes, lighter colored yarn and a larger needle can help. Good for you.
Yeah, I’d say if you pull the yarn to tighten your cast-on stitch, only do that to make one stitch similar to the other or to get rid of a huge gap. If it’s pretty close to the needle to begin with, leave it alone! She probably should have mentioned something about tension in the video…
