Is 60 stitches of WW yarn ok to use on 16” circular needles

My pattern that I am doing calls for 60 cast ons for 16” circular needles. I looked it up and it said the minimum number of stitches you should CO to 16” circular needles with worsted weight yarn was 80. Is this correct? What should I do?

If your needle is too long you stretch the work and the stitches. It’s also really uncomfortable to knit. Better off to buy a shorter needle

The solution is simple: just pull out a loop of the cord holding the needles together. Like that you do not stretch what you are knitting. You will find many examples on youtube if you search for “magic loop” knitting.
