I am making my first cable project, the Irish Hiking Scarf found on this site. When I put my stitches on my cable needle will I always let them hang [I]in front[I]for this project? I am not sure whether my cables should always slant the same way or if I am suppose to alternate them somehow… Thank you!
Britnay - I took a quick look at the pattern and yes, all the cables are crossing the same direction so you will always be holding the 3 stitches in front.
HTH-
Thanks ma’am!
Britney, Did you figure the cable out? If it calls for Cable in front, just keep repeating that throughout the pattern. My question for you is what type of yarn you used? I have knit that hat a few times and it really comes out cool with the cable. Tess
Tess,
I am making the scarf. I believe the yarn I am using is Bernat Softee Chunky in Heather gray. I lost the wrapper but I think that’s what its called. I will post a pic when I finish it. I am loving cables so far!!
it also looks really nifty with Paintbox as the slow color changes really add a lot of interest to the scarf…so many scarves, so little time
TexasMama,
I used the Patons wool with my hat. Wow! Is it warm. How are you liking the cabling on that scarf? I think the beiges and lighter yarns show off the work better than darker yarns. Cannot wait to see the photo of the completion. That is a great pattern to practice your cables. Keep knitting!!! Tess
