Interpreting the knitting directions for sleeve increase

Can anyone explain to me what the pattern wants me to do when knitting a sleeve in st st and pattern reads:

“Beg with the next right side row, inc 1 stitch each end of needle every 4th row 4 times”

I began the increase on the next right side row, then p 1 row, k 1 row, p 1 row, then inc on the next (4th) k row and then repeated
Did it want me to work 3 rows st st and then inc which would put me at a p row??

Thanks for your help.

I’ve never used a forum before - hope I did it right.

Welcome to the forums, and yes, you did it right! :waving:

As for your sleeve instructions. Let’s call your first increase row (a right side row as your patterns instructs), row 1. It wants you to increase one stitch at each side every 4th row, four times. So you will increase on each side of your sleeve on row 1, row 5, row 9, and row 13. All of your four increase rows will be on the right side of your work.

Hope this helps.
