Free shipping is not an option… it’s either $6.99 or $8.29. You don’t need to worry about Canada Post’s $5 handling fee because they truck the packages to the border and ship domestically. The problem {for me} would be that they only accept credit cards. I don’t have one, and even if I did, they all charge a service fee for transactions in a different currency. It is easy to see a $40 USD order hit over $60, if not $80 CAD by the time it hits your door. Unless you get a friend in the US to order something for you, and resend it to you as a “gift”, it’s cost-prohibitive to cross-border mail-order shop. And something else just occurred to me… I heard “somewhere” that WOOL doesn’t have duty on it. If all you would be ordering is something like the WOTA, you shouldn’t need to pay any duties or GST/HST… if what I heard is true.
As a side note, Herrschnerrs {sp?} now has a Canadian service centre again. This means you can get orders/catalogues in Canadian dollars, etc. If you are interested, I’ll go find my link to the site.
I would be interested … on the receiving end too! It would make it a lot easier for me to get the wool that everyone else is using than spending upto 4 hours trying to find a suitable UK alternative.

AmandaR - where in Berkshire are you? (you can PM me if you want) I lived in Reading for 5.5 years and had to move back to the US 2 years ago. I miss it GREATLY and am working hard to go back “home”.

Oooh, REAL Cadbury!! 
No kidding. Especially with the insane shipping charges, which seem to be universal. (Or US-iversal, or something.) It seems like no matter how cheap you can find a yarn online, it winds up being more expensive than you can find it elsewhere once you figure in the shipping. That site with the neat little pendant yarn cutters wants something like $18 for shipping, which is what is stopping me from getting one.
The Herrschnerr’s site is http://www.yarnsale.ca if memory serves. We have one (sort of) in town, newly opened, and I’ve been trying very hard to not spend all my money there.
Yeah, I’ve placed one order with Herrschnerr’s and their prices were really good. Granted, a lot of what I bought was Red Heart, but come on, it was $0.97 per skein!!! I’m making afghans for the inlaws for Christmas, but didn’t want to go broke doing it!!
Another good website is www.yarnbythebag.com . It’s a Canadian site, but lists its prices in USD (???). It’s good if you’re interested in buying a lot (think 10 skeins/balls/hanks) of the exact same yarn.

Are you talking about Peak Freans chocolate digestives? You can get them in Canada… not telling how many of them I can eat at one sitting!!! :oops:
Camilla Valley Farms is another good Canadian source I have heard. I haven’t had the pleasure of trying them myself, but have heard many raves from others. For me, the only “cheap” place I get to go is to Ram’s when they have sales on. The clearance aisle there always has a few goodies tucked away, and the 25% off sale that they had in January made it possible for me to get several WIMs worth of projects purchased. They have a bag discount too.
