I have been knitting a bag to felt and it is knit in the round. I know that I need to knit front and back but I am having problems joining the bag on the knit side. Could someone give me some ideas how that is done?
I’m not entirely sure what you mean, but your title says “intarsia in the round” so I’m assuming you are referring to that? You can’t do intarsia in the round. It has to be done flat. You can do a sort of fair isle/stranded method that carries the yarn around the whole thing catching it every 3 or 4 stitches.
It’s easiest to just work the front and back separately and then do a mattress stitch to seam the sides, or work across the front and back as one piece and have one seam.
If both yarns are carried throughout the intarsia pattern, there is a way to work it in the round, but it only works with specific types of motifs.
I’ve read that you can ‘fake’ knit in the round by knitting across and increasing a stitch at the edge, and then purling back and working the increased stitch together with the other edge stitch, but I’ve never tried this.
