Intarsia, Entrelac, Fair Isle?

So far I’ve been a one color gal – except for the occasional and extremely awkward color switches on felted projects (where I cheated with tying knots).

I am ready to go on to something new, and while I’ve seen examples or these techniques, I know little about them.

Which should I tackle first?

I actually think Fair Isle is easiest. The yarn follows all the way across, there’s no worry about holes between colors. The only thing you have to watch for is to make sure your knitting is stretched out across the right needle so you don’t get puckering.

I am currently working on an Entrelac bag. I take classes for it at my LQS. I’m just about done with the bag. Will have to knit the handle and then felt it which is the scarey part!! Entrelac is a bit tricky but I did get it. Using a stitch marker helped as I began each “section”. That kept me working in the right direction.

I am using Noro wool which has beautiful colors in it. The pattern I am using is by a Theresa Gaffey design #99. :XX:

I’ve done a bit of all three, and I think Ingrid is right. However, inspiration can overcome a challenge. Personally, I’d look at a few patterns and go with the one I liked best. If it isn’t the easiest, I’ll frog a little and learn more! :XX:

It sounds like I can’t go wrong – I really like the way entrelac looks, so I might try that. I just need to find an intriguing pattern!
