I am pretty new to knitting. I have started this project but ran into some weird instructions. no matter how I read it stitches just don’t add up to 72?? is there something wrong with pattern or am I just not reading it right?
They do add up to 72 - the instructions in brackets are probably what’s confusing you. You have to repeat as many times as it says outside the brackets. I.e. the first brackets say [k2, p2] x 3 - that’s 12 stitches worked, then you move onto the next 12 knit stitches, and then work the next instructions in the next set of brackets - that’s another 24 stitches worked when you’re done.
