I’m making the Mini-Cable Socks from this pattern: http://www.goodknit.net/pdfs/free/cablesock.pdf
I do not understand the part concerning the instep decreases. It seems to me if you only knit together (decrease) on Needle 1, and not equally on Needle 3, it will be lopsided. What am I missing? Thanks so much!
Instep:
Knit 1 row with 1st needle and then with the same needle pick
up 20 sts. along side of heel flap. With the 2nd needle work
across in cable pattern the 40 instep sts. With the 3rd needle
pick up 20 sts along the side of the heel flap knit 20 sts. to the
centre of the heel. So now you have the following:
1st needle: 32 sts.
2nd needle: 40 sts. Instep sts.
3rd needle: 32 sts.Decrease as follows:
1st rnd:
1st needle: knit to last 3 sts k2tog k
2nd needle: cable pattern across to end of needle
3rd needle: knit2nd rnd:
1st needle: knit
2nd needle: cable pattern to end of needle
3rd needle: knit
Repeat these two rounds until 60 sts. remain.Toe:
Redistribute sts. so you have the following:
1st needle: 15 sts.
2nd needle: 30 sts.
3rd needle: 15 sts.
