Inside out in the round so confused

I am a relatively new knitter and I just picked up the “Alterknits” book. I am working on the “Lace-up Fingerless Gloves” and when I move from the regular needles to the dpn i find that I am working inside out. Is this an intentional part of the pattern or am I doing something wrong?

The working needles of the dpns should be closest to you so that you’re always knitting on the outside of the tube. You’re probably holding the needles away from you so you’re knitting on the inside of the tube.

OH! Now I get it. Thank you so much.
