Ingrid,

In case you are wondering why your steek thread is a sticky, well, it was me. I PM Hildie the link, and there it is. I seriously thought everyone on this forum could benefit from it if they ever make a Fair Isle Sweater.

I’m flattered that you think it’s that good. So many people are afraid of cutting their knitting. Even EZ said to go lie down in a darkened room after cutting your first steek. :teehee:

Hey Ingrid,

You have been a huge help before & hoping that you can help with this latest question…

My mate is making socks (I have never made socks!) and one part of the pattern is so confusing we dont know what it means:

(have been knitting in the round)

Knit across first 11 st, slip the last 11 st of round onto other end of same needle…22st
These 22 st are for the heel
Divide remaining st onto 2 needles and leave for instep.
Work 15 rows stocking st on heel sts (always slipping the first st purlwise on a purl row and knitways on a knit row).

What she does not understand is that this seems to say that the first half of the heel st will be increaesd by a row…. Is this correct Ingrid???

Hope you can shed some light dear Ingrid.

Cheers,

nicknit

 I’m sorry. I’m not a sock knitter, so I don’t feel confident that I can help enough, but, looking at the pattern, I’d say those slipped 11 stitches had already been knit–you’re just rearranging the stitches. You’re taking the 11 stitches from the right-hand needle.

If this isn’t the case, maybe you can post your question in the How-To where our experienced sock people can shed more light.

You mean…you don’t know…EVERYTHING!!!

Not by a long shot!

My whole world view has been shattered. :pout:

Seriously though, Nicknit, if you have a sock question, Rebecca might be the one to page. She’s really big on socks. (And an accomplished designer as well.)

You’re just rearranging stitches. You will be starting the heel and these instructions just place your original beginning of round at the back of the heel. Now you will have the first 11 stitches of needle 1 and the last 11 stitches of needle 3 together on one needle, you will turn your work around at this point and your first heel flap row will be a wrong side row.
