I am knitting Beans the Cat by Linda Dawkins (I’d give a link but knittinghelp has just politely informed me that links are forbidden on first posts) and my cat has a wrinkly butt o.o am I missing some necessary experience for the double increases? Do I have to leave some slack somewhere and tighten somewhere else to achieve the gloriously round bottom of the original Beans? Please help!
Welcome to KH. Cute kitty pattern. I’m not sure what you mean by “double increases.” The increase round is kfb into each stitch so you are doubling the number of stitches. Is that what you mean? Have you stuffed the kitty yet? Maybe stuffing will smooth it out. What yarn did you use, acrylic, wool, cotton, other? You could post a photo if you want to let people see what you’re seeing.
I have that pattern in my queue! Increasing that quickly is bound to cause some wrinkles, but I think stuffing will smooth it out a bit in the end.
Welcome!
Hi and thank you! Yeah that was what I meant by that, sorry for being confusing :S yes I have stuffed it and the wrinkles are not very obvious but I’m still curious as to how to get that amazingly round shape
I’m using acrylic yarn and um at the moment don’t have access to a picture-taking device so I can’t show you what it looks like
in the PDF, there is a photo that shows some really loose stitches at the increasing end, is that how you do it?
Loosening up on the increases is going to help. Also, the butt end is going to pull in a bit when you tighten the yarn that connects it to the cast off edge between the ears and that will contribute to the round appearance.
Okay, I guess that’s all I need to know. Thank you very much! I’ll get a picture on here… if I remember…
:teehee:
Good one, Jan!
I really have to make one of these guys. Too cute.
