So I’m making up a cape pattern in Teardrop stitch and need to increase then decrease rows. For some reason I can’t get my head around how to do that.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

What is the name of your pattern?
Are the increases and decreases at edges or in the center of the pattern?

There is no pattern for what knitting. I’m making it up as I go from a sewing pattern using the teardrop knit stitch. I’ll attach the picture I’m working from and as you can see, I need to increase then decrease, but I don’t know how to do that using teardrop stitch. I’ve only been knitting just over a year and self taught.

Usually you would work the increase sts or decrease sts in the background stitch, say stockinette. Then when you have enough to work a complete repeat of the teardrop, do so. Otherwise continue with stockinette.

Yes, that’s exactly the one.
I was thinking that adding 3k stitches at the beginning and end of row 10, purring them on row 11, add 2k stitches on row 12, gives me the additional 4+1 for row 13.
Does that make sense or am I over complicating things?
If that increase works for the shaping then it should be ok. I like to keep one stitch at the beginning and one at the end of the row in stockinette or maybe as a slip stitch since the edge is visible.
YAY!!! I’ll let you know if it works or not. I’m on row 10 right now, so tomorrow I should know. Fingers crossed. Do you have another idea in case it doesn’t work? I do have an extra stitch on each end, slp and p for salvage.
That’s pretty much the way to increase in pattern. Remember that if you’re increasing on each side of the piece you’ll have to add sts on each end.
