Increasing Stitches on Sleeve

Hi, so I am an absolute beginner working on my first project, which is a little jumper for my one year old niece. I have a pattern that is in stocking stitch and requires me to increase a stitch at each end of every third row. I have checked videos on YouTube but I am not sure which one to follow as not a single video I have come across covers increase on both sides for both, knit and purl rows.
Any guidance will be helpful. Many thanks.

Hello
How lovely to be able to make a sweater for your niece.

Perhaps you will like these tutorials as they have some illustrations and reading but also videos. I’ve only just come across these but they look good.

The purl increase has an index to the tutorial which includes a section “what about the other side of the work?” which should help too.

You can use any type of increase you prefer if it is not specified in the pattern.

What pattern are you making?

Hi. Thank you so much. I’ll look into these. It’s sticking stitch pattern.

We’d like to know the name of the pattern for the jumper itself. It makes it easier to help you if you get stuck on something, if we can see what it looks like.
