Increasing size of pattern and wool substitute.

I have two problems with which iIhope you may be able to help me. I found a lovely child’s jumper pattern designed by Amy Bahrt which has a bear motif on the front. Unfortunately the wool recommended is obsolete and I would like something soft when worn next to the skin and hand washable as a substitute. The other problem I have is that the size stops at 18 months , is it possible to increase the stitches recommended to make it for a 24 month old child. Thank you.

If you go to https://yarnsub.com/, and search for the original yarn, it will give you a list of yarns that would be suitable.

Thank you will do.

The other way you can up the size is to use fatter yarn, aran instead of worsted or chunky instead of aran and larger needles to suit but then the same amount of stitches. It sounds less predictable but it you measure the gauge/ swatch for the size it could work, or you could find a similar sweater in the size you need and plan were you would work the bear/ colour work in the right spot. Like those patterns that you can put any letters ect. This is all theoretical I have never done anything that complex but have a couple of toy patterns that work well on this principle we have a giant horse knit from chunky and a tiny one from fingering. Good luck
