My pattern is requiring me to Inc 1 at each end on purl rows. I haven’t come across this before and was wondering as it will be at the edges of the work (sleeves) would I get away with normal knit increase?

If you do not want purl bumps on the right side of the work, you need to do purlwise increases when you are on the wrong side. They can be done as in this video:
