Increasing on sleeves

Hi,
I still haven’t cracked the code on how to increase stitches. If anyone could help, as ales, I’d be very grateful.

Inc 1 st at each end of – [-: next: 3rd: 3rd: 3rd: 3rd: 3rd: next] and every foll – [-: -: -: 4th: 4th: alt: alt: alt] row until there are 43 [47: 51: 55: 59: 63: 67: 69: 73] sts.

R1. 53
R2
R3 +2 55

Do I knit a further 4 rows without increasing?

Appreciate any help!

Thanks

Inc 1 st at each end of 3rd until there are 55 sts.

When there is a dash, 0 or x for your size, skip that direction and go on to the next direction.
Once you get to 55sts go on to the next direction, whatever follows after the stitch count at the end of row 3.

Thank you this is what I thought but needed the voice of an expert

Your instincts were correct! Whatever you’re making comes in lots of sizes and it’s easy to make a mistake.

It’s a huge help to go through the pattern and circle or highlight the directions for your size. Mine always seems to be 5 or 6 from the nearest “landmark” of a bracket!
