Increasing in ribbing

I am making a hat on circular needles with K3 P1 ribbing with 76 stitches cast on. On the last row of ribbing I need to increase 8 stitches evenly and have come up with:
109109910910 the * is the increase.

Is that correct?
What do I do when I come to a purl stitch?
The rest of the hat is all knit.

Thank you.

It doesn’t have to be exact so if you come to a purl I would just go to the next stitch and increase on a knit. As long as you get the correct number of stitches when you’re done and they are fairly evenly spaced it’ll be fine.

You won’t have to keep in the ribbed pattern after this row, so it doesn’t matter exactly where you increase, as long as they’re spaced fairly much the same distance apart. One or 2 sts difference won’t matter a lot.

Thank you so much! I guess it is a close enough kind of thing in this instance! :inlove:

the easiest way to increase in rib is not to knit twice into the stitch but lift the loop between the stitch and knit into the back of it. this gives a much neater and nicer looking rib.
