Increasing evenly

The pattern is for a baby sweater.

The directions read CO 52 st, K 5 rows. Increase 5st evenly on the last row.

What is a simple formula to conclude the increase?

The directions do not specify a technique for the increase, is there a general increase guideline to use when it isn’t specified?

Please help me

I usually just divide the number of increases into the total and that’s how often I increase. Being exact generally isn’t necessary. If the increases have to be in a specific place, as for a cable, the pattern tells you where to put them. So in this case, Id increase in the first stitch and after each ten after that.

When the pattern doesn’t specify, I usually use M1 since it’s so invisible.
