Hello all -
I’m working a square from the Great American Afghan. Each square is bordered by 5 rows of knit. The pattern says to increase 20 stitches on the last row. Then work the pattern … and when making the top border, decrease by 20 stitches on the first row of the border. So… my question: how to increase anda decrease those stitches? Do I cast on 20 stitches or add a stitch by some other method every 3-4 stitches across the row? How do I decrease stitches at the top? Knit 2 tog every few stitches? Thanks for your help!
They want you to increase within the border to accommodate whatever stitch pattern is within it. So on that last row, just either m1 every few stitches or kfb every few stitches–either will work since it’s up against the garter edge.
On the last row, k2tog will work, too.
Great ! Thank you
