Hi, I have decided to make this pattern, and I am a little confused. I think the left and right legs should be the same- but they are not- That said, there are 6 increases in the right leg and only two in the left leg- this discrepancy is weird to me. I don’t understand it because shouldn’t the legs just be… make two alike? https://crazyhands.net/bear-baby-knit-romper-pattern/
When reading the pattern for the left leg it says: Repeat ribbing part and Round 1 as for the right leg.
In the Round 1 for the right leg you find the increases. So, yes, both got the increase of 6 stitches in Round 1 after the ribbing part.
Thank you- I had not realized that! Also just from the ribbing I have it seems super small- I sure hope that is not an indication of actual sizing
And after the fact, I realized how important it is to make a gauge swatch! I usually don’t make stuff that requires one, so I never make one- but now I saw that 16 stitches should be 4 inches which means mine will be seriously small- however, I am using the right size needle but I decided not to hold two strands because my yarn weight is 4
Is there part of the fabric you have already knit where you can measure out what gauge you are getting with the single strand in this size needle? You could perhaps look for a different pattern in that gauge to match your yarn and then get a different yarn for this pattern?
As you said, this is why we swatch. We all knit differently, some tightly, some loosely. Sounds like you knit more tightly than the desigenr. You could go up a needle size or two to get the right number of stitches, but it may result in a more open fabric.
And part of why they have 2 strands is also to marl the colors where they change from one to the other, by cutting one strand and replacing it with one of the new color.
