Increases and decreases working in pattern

You have carried on beautifully and it’s a delight to see how well this sweater is turning out. It’s great progress on the sweater and in your knitting experience.

Hi @Kelly2 and All, I’m so glad I found your comments on this pattern, I’ve been struggling with it so much. @Kelly2 I wondered if you had the rows written out at all still and would you mind sharing with me so I can make sense of this! I’ve pulled this on/off so much now but I don’t want to give up, thanks in advance Law

Welcome to the forum!
Do the rows listed in post #17 get you started with the shaping in pattern? Have you tried writing out the rows yourself?

Hiya thanks  , the rows in post#17 really helped but I can’t quite understand how I carry on. I’m fairly new to cable knitting. I understand the row total isn’t changing and it’s the middle pattern (double moss) that’s widening while the rev st-st is reducing. do I basically need to reduce a stich on every rs row and m1 in the middle and then pearl that stitch on the ws rows? that’s where I’m stuck when trying to write the pattern out!

The stitch count and the shaping will stay the same (no increases or decreases) throughout most of the rows. You only need to decrease in the rev st st portion and increase in the moss stitch pattern on the 9th row and then every 10th row after that. So most of the knitting is following the pattern set in the previous rows.

The increase sts are M1 which means lifting the loop between sts in the moss pattern. On the wrong side row the stitch may be a knit or a purl depending on where you are in the moss stitch pattern. You want to be sure to keep the moss pattern aligned across the row. That means looking at the previous rows to determine whether the increase stitch should be a knit or a purl.

Ah that seems to make sense now, thank you so much for your help. O will give it another go.

Hi Law, sorry for the late reply!

I do have it written out but its for the biggest size, as I like to hide in my jumpers :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: also, there are errors in it. Let me know ow if you’d like me to share it with you.
