Increase

last row end w/126 st.
Next row say to co 4sts at beg and end of foll 4 rows. There such be 142 st at the of this row, but that is not happing! If the increase is at the began and the end of rows 1-4, I have 32st. not 16 st. what am I doing wrong?

I get 32 stitches increased, also. Do you have a link to the pattern?

Working from the body to increase to add the sleeves. If I increase just rows 1 and 2 beganing and end of the rows and purl 3 and 4 it works, but is it right?

I have the magazine and just looked at the pattern.

It says to increase at the beginning of the rows for the other increases, but the beginning and end for only those rows. If you just increase at the beginning of those rows, also, you’ll end up with the 190 stitches when you’re done. That’s what I would do.

Looking at the pattern further, you bind off as if you only cast on extra stitches at the beginning of the rows, so I’d do it that way and assume that the “and end” was an error.

Speaking of increases…

I’ve come across several patterns that just say “inc 1” but they don’t say what KIND of increase - bar increase? make one?

Is there a standard type that’s used if one is not specified?
