Increase question in 3 x 3 Ribbing

I am knitting a sweater in stockinette stitch. The purl side (WS) is facing me. Instructions state: working in K3, P3 rib, increase 8 stitches evenly across sts.

I currently have 24 stitches in this row. I don’t know what type of increase I should use and where to increase in order to maintain the 3 x 3 rib. Please advise.

Usually the next row will switch to stockinette or something other then the ribbing so you don’t need to worry about staying in the 3/3 rib pattern. For your sweater, is that the case?

I’d probably increase at each end and also after each set of 3 and skip the center. I think either a kint front/back or a make 1 for your increase will work fine.

If you have a link to the pattern and/or a name it would help us help you.

Yes, if the next row switches to stockinette, just inc the sts every 3 sts or so and don’t worry about keeping to the rib pattern.
