Increase in first stitch

It is for a baby blanket, only the first 2 rows.

You are making a 2nd stitch in the first stitch. Generally knit in the front of stitch and keeping it on left needle, insert right needle into back of stitch and knit again and then slide stitch onto right needle. You will have 2 stitches on right needle and only have moved one off of left.
