Increase Decrease Problems!

Please could somebody help! I’m confusing myself with this row in my pattern…

Basically the row is 167 stitches. The first and last stich are K1 so I should have 165 stitches in my row for the following repeated sequence:

K2tog, yfwd, K1, yfwd, S1, K1, psso. This sequence should give 5 stitches but I don’t get 5 when I do it. I’m clearly doing something wrong, probably involving the yfwd. Can anybody please point me in the right direction?

Yes - the sequence is five stitches.
k2tog - stitch 1
yfwd (or yarn over) - stitch 2
k1 - stitch 3
yfwd (or yarn over) - stitch 4
skpsso - stitch 5

Are you treating yfwd as just moving the yarn rather than as a yarn over? I find that way of writing it a little confusing, although there should be a list of the terms that would state to make a yo and not just move the yarn.
