increase/decrease confusion on bottom-up triangle shawl

Hi. I have plans to knit some triangular shawls. I’m only knitting about 10 months and still trying to get my head around how to read patterns. So, if there’s a really easy way to do this, or an app to interpret patterns for me, I’d really appreciate a heads up.
However, I seen a pattern I really like for a triangular shawl, worked from the bottom up and on the description, it says it requires decreases at the halfway point. How can that produce a triangle shape? It sounds like it would produce a diamond shape, because I begin at the smallest point of the triangle. Could you explain where I put the increases and decreases, please? As I don’t want to buy the pattern and not understand what I’m doing. Thanks so much. I would appreciate any help.

Hi
What’s the name of the pattern?
It will probably help someone to answer your question.

If you got stuck part way through your pattern you can ask lots of questions here to get you past the tricky parts.

Welcome to KH!
This could be a shawl like the Jagged Edge shawl that is knit from one corner to the next.

You would be working in the direction of the red arrow, knitting increases then decreases after the halfway point.

The shawl is called ‘The Keeper’, by Kristen Finlay.
I’m not sure if it will work, but here’s the link.

Thanks so much. I would appreciate a point in the right direction.

Looks very detailed and attractive.
Go for it.

It looks nice! Basically, it is like salmonmac says - you start at one side, increasing on one edge only, then you decrease on the same edge at the halfway point, at the same rate that you increased.
