Increase 2x2 rib and keep pattern

Hi! I am knitting a baby jacket, I have 22 stitches in the middle of neck! Pattern says work 20 rows increase 2 stitches evenly in each row! How do I do this and stay in pattern?

I find it easiest to increase as a knit stitch and then incorporate the increased stitch into te pattern on the next row. You’ll have a single knit or purl stitch on some rows but they will become part of the 2x2 rib in the next increase row.
The important point is not to let the increases throw off the rib pattern in the body of the knitting.
It may be easier, depending on where the increases are to increase one stitch in from the edges.
What is the name of the pattern?
