I found a pattern for some cute socks, but they require beads.
I’ve never knitted with beads before.
How do you know what size beads to buy?
How do you knit them on?
I’ve seen a couple of different instructions doing this, one of which involves a crochet hook.
It’s not difficult.
What size beads does your pattern recommend? Often too, the pattern recommends a method for adding the beads.
If there’s not a size given, you basically need a size that appropriate for the socks (not too large) and that your yarn or your beading needle or crochet hook will fit through, depending on the method you choose for adding the beads.
Can you give us a link to the pattern?
I just wanted to get some beads, but I didn’t want to get the wrong size or something.
The pattern says you need 80 size 6/0 or 3mm beads.
Very cute pattern. Yes, either a crochet hook or the dental floss will work (and either is much easier than stringing beads on the yarn).
The pattern pretty CLEARLY tells you what you need
80 size 6/0 beads (3.3 mm) (this is the amount needed for beading all of the owls, if you don’t all of your owls eyes, you will need less)
AND offers you tutorials on how to do it.
