Important 'WS' question

Hi -
I am knitting a blanket and the pattern is a 4 row pattern. It is a simple pattern that looks the same on both sides. However, after the 4 row pattern it says to start a new color by “purling on the WS”. Then I am to continue the 4 row pattern and start the other color by “knitting on the RS”. My question is this: Since the pattern is even, the wouldn’t this RS/WS row be on the same side each time? Does this mean I should just knit or purl a row and not worry about the side? I am very confused and would appreciate help.
Thanks!

Yes, just purl the next row. With garter st or any that look the same on both sides, just pick a side to be your RS.

And now you will have a WS.
