Imitating a cowl help

I saw this at Urban Outfitters (http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/urban/catalog/productdetail.jsp?id=28884245&parentid=SEARCH+RESULTS&color=045) and was NOT overly impressed with the yarn or the quality, but figured, I can EASILY make this on my own.

Here’s my question: I want to have a ‘seamless’ edge, so it looks as infinity as possible. Obviously it’s not worked in the round, but all my usual cast on/ off methods look really obvious in seam.

So any advice on what the best CO/ BO method? I’m thinking of using a crochet cast on for live stitches?

That’s my suggestion too. If you do a provisional cast on you can graft the final row to the cast on for a completely seamless look.

It’s the delight and the curse of knitting, isn’t it? Even though your yarn may cost more than the purchased cowl, you know that you can make a better quality, better looking piece than what’s in a store.

I’m so horrified to keep seeing knit things where the edges are jut SEWN together. Monsters.

Thank you!! I’m soooo excited to start this!

Monster speaking.:hiding:

I’m making an afghan out of several squares sewn together, I think it’s coming out quite nice. Can’t wait to see your finished cowl!

I meant more like machine sewn. Not seamed, just knitting cut and sewn into the proper shape.

I’d say provisional cast on and graft, too. That looks warm and quick to knit, which might be really important for the next two or three days!
