I'm offically on vacation! *And Snowed In*

I’m on vacation as of… right… now! Yeah! I even put a note on my phone number in the roladex that I’m on vacation and not to call me :wink:

For those who don’t know, I work at a very busy Target store. So after the holiday season and them cutting hours and me always being called to pick up shifts because they didn’t have enough people, and working through the flu and this cold… sigh I’m ready for a break!

So, tomorrow I’m meeting up with Norman for a sock knitting class, on Wednesday (my birthday) is my SNB group and we may go out to dinner, then on Thursday I’m leaving for Michigan for a week to visit friends and family. :happydance:

Owen Potato says hullo - we were watching a replay of Westminster this morning. He’s such a little sloth today. Every time I put down my knitting needles he’s angling for a belly rub. Personally, I think my beagle needs to be chased by your beagle.

Nope, Rose is staying home with Daddy. Now he gets to get up 5 times a night and get kicked in the side while he’s trying to sleep :wink: Plus he’ll take care of the rabbits who I just got done cleaning. It’s a gorgeous day, 57! Hard to believe there’s a winter storm warning for tomorrow!!! I have the garage open for the rabbits to get some fresh air and sunshine and Rose was rolling around in the grass and got brushed.

Just saw FooFoo’s photo. Is Coton de Tulear really a breed? My yorkie Pepper looks an awful lot like her…or would if his hair didn’t tangle so easily, lol. How was the Coton de Tulear developed? Foofoo looks like she is just as loving and rambuncious as Pepper…always running…in a hurry, lol. He’s a real clown…always making us laugh. He has the same sweet face as FooFoo when his hair is out of his eyes. Hoping to get him a puppy cut when the weather warms up.

IIRC, the Coton de Tulear originated in Madagascar. They have not been available in the US for very long; first imported in 1976.

Last I heard the CTCA were not interested in promoting the Coton for recognition as a breed by the AKC, because “it is estimated that 1-in-4 dogs registered with the AKC show a severe, genetic health defect…[and] the AKC has proven a boon to the puppymill pet trade racket”. The breed is gaining popularity in the US though, in spite of a schism between CTCA and FCI standards. FCI standards favor miniaturization of the breed, which goes against the grain with many European and American breeders.

I personally think they are beautiful… though I don’t know if I would have the time to groom one. Looks like a full time job!

Well, I was going to leave but the storm that they were predicting actually developed and I got a whole 2 hours of sleep at the best. So I am pushing my trip a day back. Looking out there with the white out conditions, I think I made the right decision!

Now I’ll just work on my sock and watch the rest of Sex and The City Season 3. Snow day! :happydance:

Yes, as you found out the Coton is a breed. She’s a major cutie…as for grooming…yes they do take quite a bit. However, I keep Foofoo’s hair cut so it’s not too bad. I just bathe her once a week and brush her.

A few weeks before grooming… I love it this way, but it’s too much work and mats.
