hi… I’m new to knitting and I’m having trouble with some instruction. I’m going to share the instruction that I’m confused about.
Shape armholes: Cast off 3 sts beg of next 2 rows. 72 sts. Dec 1 st at each end of needle on next 3 rows, then every following alt row to 54 sts. Cont even until armhole measures 8"
Neck shaping: Next row: (RS). K 18 sts. Turn. Leave rem sts on a spare needle. Dec 1 st at neck edge on next 2 rows, then every following alt row to 12 sts. Cont even until Front measures same length as Back to beg of shoulder, ending with a purl row. Cast off. With RS facing, miss next 18 sts. Join yarn to rem sts and knit to end of row. Work as given for left side.
English is not my main language hope you can explain it to make it easy to understand…

For the shape armholes, call the cast off row, row 1. Cast off 3 sts on row 1 then decrease one stitch at each end of rows 2,3 and 4. Decrease on the following rows 6,8,10,12, etc until you get to 54sts. Continue even (no decreases) until 8 inches. Two sts are decreased on each decrease row.
For the neck, you’re to work one shoulder first. Knit 18 then turn as you would at the end of a row. Ignore the remaining sts for now. Decrease one stitch at the neck edge on rows 1 and 2 then on rows 4,6,8 and 10.
