If you have to dec 1 at each end of row

but the pattern doesn’t tell me what type of decrease to do…would I just k2tog on each end?? Its for Nerissa in the Rowan 41 mag. The pattern says: con in patt, dec 1 st at each end of the 5th and 6th row until 87 sts remain.

Thanks for any help!

A k2tog will make a right slanting decrease and a ssk will make a left slanting decrease. I would do a ssk at the beginning of the row (right side facing) and a k2tog at the end of the row.

I would agree with JGM, with the exception that I’d do it on the 2nd and 3rd stitches in on the left side, and 2nd and 3rd stitches from the right side. So basically knit the first stitch, ssk, continue in your pattern until the last 3 stitches k2tog, knit the last stitch. that sort of thing.

Agree with Rorshach. I never do incs/decs on first/last sts. Best done 2-3 sts in, esp for pieces to be seamed.

BTW, when it doubt as to which incs/decs to use, try some on swatch. See which you like.

thanks guys!!!
