Ideas for mohair

I have .85 lb of mohair. I will need to knit it double stranded, I’m sure, so that leaves me .42 lbs (170 ounces, I think!). I don’t know the yardage. When I swatched it, I’m getting about 18 stitches=4inches on size 10 needles. That puts it about worsted weight, I think (when doubled). So, my question…do I have enough to make a long sleeved sweater? How do I determine this?

What would you recommend I do with this? Ideally, I would knit a long sleeved, turtleneck sweater with one wide cable up the front and back. Would it work?

It’s really hard to tell without yardage.

How much yarn does the sweater pattern you’ve pictured call for?

From what I can tell, the pattern calls for about 750 yards in a yarn with 4-5 WPI. I’m getting 7-8 WPI.

What I’d do is go to some yarn sites and find a mohair similar to the one you have. They’ll give the weight and yardage for the skeins, so you can figure out approximate what you have.

Is your gauge with the yarn doubled? If you want the same gauge you might have to use more strands.
