Ideas for 2 skeins of Noro Silk Garden?

Hi everybody!

I received 2 skeins of Noro Silk Garden in a swap and have just
discovered the price of it and so now feel a bit of pressure to
make something really fabulous from it. The problem is I’m stumped!
Anybody have any ideas? I’m open to anything…

I don’t know of anything of the top of my head for just 2 skeins of Noro, but you might want to check out Jane Ellison’s books of patterns specifically designed using Noro yarn. I know in Noro Unlimited, there are a couple of patterns for felted handbags. Oh, and I just remembered something else I did with only 1 skein of Noro: I knitted a Booga Bag with black wool yarn, then added the Noro skeion about 1/2way up, then finished with more black. The Noro colorway I had was grey, black, silver, and burgundy. So, that might be something you could use.

Yeah my suggestion was going to be to stripe it with some black and make a scarf. But a booga would be nice too. I saw someone do this on Ravelery, lemme see if I can find it

I also would suggest something that you could use the Noro as an accent or design feature combined with a complimentary yarn.

What about a fake-isle hat? Redhead rachel did one and it’s beautiful!

It’s nice in stranded colourwork (check out the Tams in Knitty) and I bought two balls recently and made two really cool stripey socks (picture of similar ones on this blog, scroll down to 4 December)

Fingerless mitts, narrow scarf, some hats…

Ok thanks for the replies! I do like the idea of the fake isle hat maybe
with some matching wristwarmers… and those socks looks great as
well… I don’t think this yarn will work in a booga bag because I am not
sure that it will felt…i don’t know anything about felting so I could
well be wrong but it is 45% silk, 45% kidmohair, 10% lambswool.
I also found a great doubleknit scarf pattern here that I think would
look gorgeous and be nice and warm…decisions, decisions!

Thanks everybody!

Oh, yeah, you’re right. I used Kureyon with my bag, which of course, is wool. I like the fake isle hat idea the best. I printed off that pattern myself! :teehee:

I found the scarf I was thinking of but its on ravelry. If you are on ravelry I think this link will work

Thanks for reminding me to check Ravelry! I have been on there
a bit but haven’t got all my stuff put on. I always forget that I can
check what others have done/are doing with a particular yarn!

Thanks!
Libbie

There’s this one too - I’m doing one with something noro, I forget which …
