I’m well into my second-ever sock and enjoying myself thoroughly. I’ve been daydreaming about my new beautiful sock wardrobe in many colors and patterns. I think I would like to buy a nice sock book that will help me realize my dream. Which would you recommend? I looked over at Amazon and it seems that Sensational Knitted Socks would be a good one. I’d like to learn how to do some different heels and toes, (my current socks OTN are the Silver’s Sock Class ones) so a book that has some lessons in it would be good. I have a $25 gift card from Borders, so help me spend it.
“Knit Socks!” by Betsy Lee Mccarthy is the sock book I have. There are 15 sock patterns in the book. I have had this book for about a year now, but just finished my very first sock yesterday. Walks you through step by step and tells you how many stitches you should have on your needles at each step. And I like the shape of the book… it is shaped like a sock!
Another vote for Sensational Knitted Socks! It is very easy to understand, and there are lots of stitch pattern options to choose from. I also love that the instructions are set up so that you can use whatever gauge you want. I just got Cat Bordhi’s Socks Soar on 2 Circs for Xmas – haven’t tried it yet.
My one gripe with knitting books in general is that I wish they had bindings that allowed them to lay flat! :!!!:
Am I the only one that does NOT like the book Sensational Knitted Socks? I have it but I do not think it is well written. I find it hard to follow the directions the way they are laid out on the pages. I rarely look thru it anymore. :!!!:
I looked at SKS the other day in the store, and I decided not to get it; it just didn’t seem like it was for me. :0) I’ll stick with my Knit Socks! book
