My Ph.D. thesis defense is tomorrow. I am feeling mostly prepared, but rather stressed and nervous (as is to be expected, I suppose).
What has me most concerned is the weather! :grrr: They are forecasting a :!!!: 1-3 inches of snow overnight! Now I know that seems like a pittance to many of you, but to those of us in Seattle it is a big deal. We only get snow once or twice a year, so no one knows how to drive in it and a small amount can paralyze the city. Luckily my talk is not until afternoon, so I am hoping that if we do get snow or ice it will have cleared enough by then that my committee can make it in. Please send good thoughts and voodoo fingers my way!
Thanks for the good wishes! My degree will be in Molecular and Cellular Biology, with a research emphasis on Biochemistry and Structural Biology.
Conditions here are a bit dicy, but not show-stoppers. I was able to make it in just fine, and have not heard from anyone on my committee that they will not be able to make it. The sun is shining, so hopefully conditions will continue to improve throughout the day.
I PASSED MY DEFENSE!! :cheering: :happydance: :happydance: :cheering:
I’m not quite finished yet (still have to finish up the last bit of the written dissertation and get it turned in), but am over the last major hurdle! Now I am so tired that I am ready to :thud: - off to bed!
