I am to admit how long this has been a WIP! I found this pattern in a magazine at work years ago (okay the mag has a date of 1976!) when I was still in college!!! I bought yarn that I could afford and made a couple of the squares and then just dropped it.
Well, I decided I should actually finish it this year. The yarn, Caron Dazzle-Aire is not even made anymore! My eyes can not even read the tiny print in the pattern anymore, so I had to scan it and enlarge it.
I had originally intended it to be a gift for my little sister who was 7 or 8 at the time.
Well, tomorrow is HER dd’s 5th birthday and I am giving it to my niece.
After completing the squares and stitching them together, I added a hand sewn in fleece backing. Then I worked the edge.
Here are photos of my 31 year old WIP!
I hope that it is okay I post this here. It is actually crochet!
It is absolutely exquisite! I am sure it will be a much treasured heirloom. It is so very beautiful. Congratulations on finishing it! Thanks for posting it.
This is so sweet. My little niece would love something like this. Those are her favorite colors. I don’t think it is out-dated I think it is priceless.
