I resisted!

I went to Michaels to buy some paints and brushes for stencilling. (they had this great 2 for 1 deal on paints) AND I resisted giving into temptation! I WAS SO TEMPTED to buy yarn. They were at such good prices, but I didn’t buy any! I feel so proud of myself.

You resisted yarn, but succumbed to “Stenciler’s Syndrome”, the uncontrolable urge to decorate any plain surface! I’ve stenciled my kitchen, bathroom, dining room, living room, and laundry room. Trying to figure out how to get the cats to hold still long enough to do them, too.

which kinds of paints? i have a project that i am slowly working on that i think i need more colors for. is it like the folkart type paints or the paints for canvas type paints? 2 for 1 might be a good enough excuse to get me to go to michaels!

MrsBear~~~i have got to see pictures of these rooms!!!

:roflhard: I’ve gone the stencilling route, too!

I never stenciled, but have painted for years & can no longer do it bc of my hip/leg…yadda, yadda, yadda…I used to do a lot of free hand decorative painting on furniture. I was quite sad when I no longer had an outlet for creativity bc of my disability (can’t maneuver furniture or get into positions to paint it  )…that’s when God steered me to knitting :happydance: :cheering: :happydance: :cheering: :cheering: …way more fun to knit than to paint JMHO

Yeah, knitting is better. I can sit on the couch. Last time I stencilled anything it was my floor–on my knees until 2 in the morning so it would dry before people got up. Looks nice, though! I bought a bunch more paint and stencils–but knitting took over my life!

LOL…I would paint all hours of the night, too  LOL!!
of course, i often knit all hours of the night…

I suspect we traded one addiction for another, that’s all!

Perhaps…but I’ve just discovered stencilling, so I’d say that knitting is still higher above it.

It was acrylic paint. Oh yes, and this is OT, but what are the best brushes to use when stencilling/painting on fabrics? I just bought some foam ones, but they soak up so much paint that I don’t use!

I always use bristle brushes - the kind that are round. The less paint you use, the better.
